About us
Pustak Ghar opened in 1972 as a narrow paper-and-ink counter on College Street in Kolkata, the city's book market, selling exercise books and blue-black ink to students from the colleges next door. Fifty years on, the counter is still there, and so is the smell of paper.
Today we make our own notebooks and journals in a small bindery behind the shop, on acid-free paper chosen for fountain pens, and stock the pens, pencils, art supplies and desk tools that go with them. Every product page lists the paper weight (GSM), page count, size and binding, so you know exactly what you're writing on.
